Learn the basic steps to use a VPN safely on your device and understand which VPN protocol may be suitable for your needs.

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, helps create an encrypted connection between your device and a VPN server. This guide explains the basic steps to use a VPN safely and choose a suitable protocol.

1. Choose a VPN Protocol

RaceVPN provides several free VPN and proxy protocols such as OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP, PPTP, V2Ray, VLESS, VMess, Trojan, Shadowsocks, and OpenSSH. Each protocol has different compatibility and performance characteristics.

2. Create a VPN Account

Open RaceVPN, choose your preferred protocol and server country, then create a free account. Guest accounts and member accounts may have different daily limits and account duration.

3. Copy or Download the Configuration

After the account is created, RaceVPN will show the connection details. Depending on the protocol, you may receive a username and password, a connection URL, a QR code, or a downloadable configuration file.

4. Import the Configuration into Your VPN App

Install the required VPN app on Android, Windows, or another supported platform. Import the configuration or manually enter the server details provided by RaceVPN.

5. Connect and Test Your IP

After connecting, test your public IP address to confirm that your internet traffic is routed through the selected VPN server.

Important Usage Rules

Do not use RaceVPN for spam, phishing, malware, brute-force attacks, DDoS activity, illegal torrenting, or any activity that harms other users, networks, or services. RaceVPN may limit, suspend, or remove accounts that violate the Terms of Service.
